NOTHINGFACE Singer Explains Tour Cancellation
May 21, 2003NOTHINGFACE singer Matt Holt has issued a statement regarding the band's decision to cancel the remaining dates of their headlining tour in order to rest up for the group's upcoming appearance at Ozzfest 2003.
Holt's statement reads as follows:
"To all our fans,
"Unfortunately we have been forced to cancel the last eight dates of our tour. I apologize to the people that will not be able to see us perform and ask for your forgiveness.
"With the exception of the first three shows, my throat has been fucked up the entire tour. I played as long as I could, and tried not to cancel shows. Most of the fans that came saw a very sick singer. I couldn't even scream and you were all very patient and kind.
"My opinion of people in general has always been pretty low, but you guys have proved that there are a still lot of great people left in this shit stain called America. I love performing more than anything in the world and when I can't do my job it just rips my heart out. All I want to do is get out on stage and fucking throw down. I feel a strong responsibility to our fans and disappointing you fucking sucks. Without you we have no reason to play. You have been with us for eight years and four records, and we couldn't have made it past the first without your support.
"I never would have cancelled a single show, unless it was a must. I am consulting my doctor and will fix my throat problems. Fact is I damaged my voice because I pushed myself too hard. I kept singing through the pain and now I am paying the price. I didn't want to let the band or our fans down.
"We are not canceling our dates in Europe or Ozzfest, and will see you there.
"Thank you for your patience and please come to our next show.
"I love you all, Matt Holt"
